The City of Cape Town is dragging the owners of the trendy ZAR nightclub in Green Point to court.
Officials say they have issued fines to co-owners Gayton McKenzie and Kenny Kunene for not having business, entertainment or health licenses.
However, McKenzie has rubbished the claims insisting they are being targeted unfairly.
The nightclub is currently operating under the Cape Royale Hotel's liquor license.
However, the City's Kylie Hatton says the owners have still not paid for two outstanding fines issued for other contraventions earlier in 2011.
“The manager of ZAR has been summoned to appear in court on 10 November for trading without the appropriate licences,” she says.
McKenzie has vowed they will fight the move until the bitter end.
“Even if we spend a R100 million in court, we are going to fight this until the end,” he says.
City officials say they will monitor the club for any further contraventions.
