SUSHI king Kenny Kunene's marriage to his wife Mmathato Kunene is allegedly in murky waters because of his alleged sexual deviance.
Kunene and Mmathato are allegedly heading for divorce after she accused him of having too many women to satisfy his insatiable appetite for sex.
The straw that broke the camel's back was when Kunene had an extra-marital affair with YFM's Edith Rose, which ended acrimoniously.
Kunene and Mmathato have allegedly separated and are gearing up for a bitter battle over the custody of their three children and estate.
A family relative who spoke to Sunday World on condition of anonymity for fear of victimisation says Mmathato whined that Kenny was cheating on her under the pretext of being a polygamist.
Mmathato complained to Kunene's cousin, businessman Ezra, about her husband's philandering long before he publicly announced he was a polygamist.
The relative confirms that what really incensed her was his well publicised affair with Rose.
It is alleged Ezra and other relatives held a series of family meetings and reprimanded Kunene for his licentiousness, but he told them he was a polygamist and that Mmathato must live with it or jump into the nearest lake.
It is alleged that at that meeting the relatives also gave Mmathato a dressing down about her cavalier associations with men.
The couple's separation, which was kept hush hush, became known after Kunene suddenly stopped visiting his matrimonial home in Welkom.
When he is in the area he only visits his relatives and friends.
"Ezra almost succeeded in reconciling them but decided not to get involved anymore because he wasn't happy with Mmathato's behaviour," says the relative.
"He asked her about her alleged reckless association with men but she denied it."
Ezra cut ties with Mmathato when she allegedly passed unsavoury remarks about the BMW cabriolet he was driving at a funeral in Welkom recently.
"Ezra was surprised that she did that because she drives the same model," says the relative.
Ezra confirms that Mmathato frequented his house for advice about her faltering marriage to Kunene.
"She'd come to my house for advice and I tried to make sure that they reconciled, but it is really not my place to talk about this matter anymore because of my relationship with Kenny," he says.
Mmathato couldn't be reached for comment at the time of going to press.
Kunene says: "I know that I'm a public person but I prefer not to talk publicly about my family life.
"If people want to know what is happening about me and the mother of my kids they must just watch my show So What?."
